Zazen Posture

Sit upright with your spine long, head floating up, chin tucked, ears over shoulders. Relax the shoulders, breathe low into the belly. Don’t lean any direction, find the still centre.

Rest your hands in your lap, left hand cradled in the right, thumbs lightly touching to form an oval. This is the cosmic mudra β€” and it doubles as a concentration gauge: if the oval collapses or your thumbs press hard, your mind has wandered.

The posture isn’t a container for practice. It is the practice. Just sit, with nothing to gain. (Suzuki, 2020)
