On Bullshit

Bullshit is a technical term, and Harry Frankfurt’s book (Frankfurt, 2005) is probably the best reference for it. When someone lies, they knowingly misrepresent the truth. However, when someone bullshits, they don’t care about the truth; they simply say whatever is necessary to achieve their desired outcome.

Often, people feel obligated to talk about things or answer questions about which they have no clue. They simply bullshit to impress others or to feel good about themselves. They are the innocent ones.

Those who are not innocent and bullshit will do so to deceive others, destroying truth, thereby increasing entropy. They are best avoided.
